Our Funny Boy!

Jackson is at such a fun stage right now. He is really talking alot more and copies what we say all the time. He is also such a character. A few night ago we had a whole chicken for dinner when jackson had already eaten all the meat off his bone he looked at the bone and just took a bite of it. I thought it was so gross but couldn't help but laugh and grab the camera. He went on to finish eating the whole bone. He must have been hungry.
Then yesterday we had a rain storm pass through, Oklahoma City had a couple of tornados hit, but none here THANKFULLY! Anyway Jackson kep talking about it raining and wanted to go out and play in it. He thought it was the neatest thing and kept saying raining, wet, splash and just enjoying being out in it. What a kid! I loved watching him getting such joy out of it!!

Grnadma Jean and Grandma Jensen and my neice Presly I had to hold some babies cuz I missed mine.

Well I thought I better document that I got a weekend away just me because I know it will not happen again for a very very long time. I love the time I spent in Utah. I loved being able to visit with family without the distraction of kids. I do LOVE being with my kids but usally on our visits our kids are harder than usual, so it was nice to be able to really visit. I loved it!! I loved seeing my sisters and brothers and mom and dad, and my aunts and cousins, and sister-in-laws, and mother-in-law. It really was so nice. I also felt so overwhlemed with the generosity and support of all my family at my baby shower. I have the best family, I really miss being able to go to the big family get togethers, so it was so fun to see everyone.
So my time in Utah was great. However traveling was a nightmare. On Friday night my plane from OK to Ut was re-routed to Colorado Springs because of fog. After waiting hours in the Colorado Springs airport we finally got word the fog situation had improved and we took off and headed to SLC arrivng a little after 2am.
Than on Monday after I had arrived at the airport checked my bag got through secuirty and was walked to my gate I got word my my flight from SLC to OKC was cancelled because of ice storms on OK. So of course I cried, I was ready to see my fam, and I got on a flight for the next day. So Tuesday I went back to the airport again and my flight was cancelled again. When I went to get another flight home and they said they couldn't get me on a flight until Thursday. I of course started to cry the poor Delta worker probably thought I was nuts. I asked if there were any other flights or airlines they coudl get me on. They got me a flight to Denver and a connection from Denver to OK arriving at 10 pm that night. It was risky because there was a chance my flight could be cancelled again in Denever and would be stuck there until Wednesday morning but I could at least get a flight home on Wednesday. Well lucky for me the flight was not cancelled and I made it home to OK. Of course they lost my bag, which I was not surprised with all the juggling around of flights, but I made it. I had parked my car and so hopped on the shuttle to the parking lot which was not covered. I got to my car and found it completely iced over like I have never seen before. Unfortunatley our car does not have a fnacy clicker thing to unlick it you just have to out the key in the hole and turn however the keyhole was ice covered. But no problem after chipping away at it for a couple of minutes I was in. I found the ice scraper and tried to chip away at the ice but it was hopeless there was no way. I just sat in my car and waited for the heater and defrost to kick in. In the mean time Tyler called wondering what the roads were looking like. Bless his heart he was so worred about me driving home. He went online and found a hotel for me to stay in that night. However after all the hassle the last thing I wanted was to stay in a hotel so stubborn me told him I was going to drive home that night. I promised I would stop if I slipped on the road even once.
So I finally got all the ice chipped away with the help of some guy that had pity on my, I am sure the huge belly helped with that. The roads in OKC were pretty bad, but I didn't slip and once I got out of the city it got much better. I still had to drive pretty slow so what is normally a 1 hour 20 min drive took over 3 hours. I made it home around 2:30 am. I have never been so grateful to be home. Wednesday was Ty's birthday so it was so nice to be home with him and the kids. Syd's school was cancelled so we had fun making Ty's cake and a special birthday dinner.

So all in all I think I really DO NOT want to travel in the winter again!! I think we will save all our traveling for the other 3 seasons.

Thankful

Last night Layton said our prayer for dinner it was so darn cute I just had to blog it. So here was his prayer:
"thank you we can go to bed, thank you for my mom's belly, thank you for my sisters in my mom's belly, thank you we can go potty, thank you we can go to bed."

I thought it was so cute, and funny. I never knew Layton was so thankful to go to bed. What a guy!

Since I am talking about being thankful! I have to mention how grateful I am for my hubby!! He is seriously the best. This past Sunday was my birthday. He told Sydney that it was a day for mom not to do any work. So if I went to do anything Sydney would say, "Mom, your not supposed to do that your the birthday girl. Dad can do that."
Then Ty made his terryaki chicken sandwiches that I love!! Seriously so good!! And a yummy chocolate marble cheesecake. And to top it off he is sending me home to Utah this weekend all by MYSELF! Which I am so excited to see all my fam. My awesome, thoughtful, wonderful sisters and mom are throwing me a baby shower while I am there. Am I spoiled or what?!

Christmas

So I'm finally getting my Christmas post done. It was so much fun this year. Sydney was especially excited and was very concerned about going to bed on time so Santa would come. She actually wanted to go to bed and we told her after we read and played out the Christmas story. she was so worried we were going to take to long.
Needless to say it was so fun to see her and Layton's reactions when they woke up.
Syd and Layton both worked on building a present for each other with Tyler. They built a tool box for Layton and an easel with a whiteboard and chalkboard for Syd. They were both so excited to give each other what they had worked on. Jackson woke up first but didn't notice all those presents under the tree. But he did notice all the treats in his stocking and would bring us a treat and say "open it". He defnately is his mothers son and loves his chocolate. And although we really missed our families, it was also fun to be home and not worry about the stress of traveling for the holidays.

A few days after Christmas my parents and brother Charlie and Spencer came for a visit. We LOVED!! having them and the kids really loved being with their uncles and Grandma and Grandpa. Even Jackson was won over by Grandpa, which was a feat in itself. Jack woke up to them on Sunday morning and wondered who these people were and by the time we got to church all he wanted was "pompa". Which is another nice thing about getting visits from family here. The kids just seem to bond with them better when they are in their own element. Although there really isn't tons to do here, I loved having them and hope they didn't get too bored. So of course I cried when they left. It was so neat to watch the kiddos so happy spending time with them and really bonding with them, so it just broke my heart when it was time for them to go.

And we fianlly got all our leaves raked up. We enjoyed the nice weather and the kids got to enjoy a huge pile of leaves.

Does it get any better than this?

Last night when we put the kids to bed we put Layton in bed with Syd. Jackson and Layton have a hard time going to bed at the same time. Jackson usually cries a bit and if he's not Layton will get up to go potty or get a drink or any old excuse to get out of bed, and Jackosn will then start to cry. So I decided I want all the kids in bed at the same time and put Layton in with Syd. Layton was so excited, however Sydney wasn't exactly thrilled to share her bed, but was willing to put up with it.
So this morning I woke up and walked past Syd's room and could here little whispers and giggles. They saw me so both got up and Sydney said, "Mom I am so proud of Layton! Do you know what Layton did, he hasn't done this before! He told me he was scared in the night so I put my arm around him and he was okay!"
Seriously nothing is better than seeing them so happy to take care of each other. Right now Jack is taking his nap and Syd is reading books to Layton on her bed. I love these kiddos!! I am so blessed!!

It snowed here on Tuesday and Wednesday so I went out and took some pics of the snow and our house, so here are the requested pics of our house. We finally finshed all the siding, painting and stained all the brick a little over a month ago. It was quite the job and we wre so glad when it was all done. We really like the end result.

Our Thanksgiving Weekend Fun

I actually was waiting for Tyler to post this because he said he might actually write a post on our blog, however after a while I thought I better do it for him. Besides I needed to post about our Thanksgiving too. After a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner with our great friends here, and might I add it was a really great dinner. Our friends have an 11 year old daughter who took care of all the kids eating in the other room, and even entertained them when they were done eating. We sat and ate our whole dinner without any interuptions. Amazing isn't it! It was so nice, great food and great company.
Anyway after dinner Tyler went out hunting with his friend Spencer, and they both got a white tail buck. It was Spencer's first time hunting and Tyler's first hunt in a long time. Tyler was so excited!!! It was so much fun to see him so excited, I only wish I could have been there to see him in action!!

Then on Friday night we got a babysitter and went out a spent the night with Spencer and Jamie out on her Dad's property where he has his ranch. It was so beautiful and peaceful, rolling hills, beautiful green pastures, and bare trees with their leaves all gone. It was so nice. I actually was amazed at how relaxed I was leaving the kiddos for the first time with a babysitter over night. We were lucky again to have great friends and knew they were in good hands.
Then on Saturday we just enjoyed a day at home with our munchkins. We definately missed them and it was nice to just play and have fun. We made a gingerbread house, from scratch which I have not done before. The kiddos had lots of fun rolling out the dough and cutting out the shapes, and of course decorating, and as if we hadn't eatedn enough sweets we finished it off roasting marshmallows in the fireplace and making smores. It was a great holiday weekend!
Watching the jollyranchers melt to maek the windows

Relaxing after our hard work

Our finished masterpeace, it did have a fence but Jackson got to it.
